Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off)
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp:
- In a bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, smoked paprika, oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well mixed.
- Add the shrimp to the bowl and toss to coat. Let marinate for 10–15 minutes while you prepare the grill.
- Assemble the Skewers:
- Thread the marinated shrimp onto skewers, ensuring the shrimp are secure and not overcrowded for even cooking.
- Grill the Skewers:
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F/200°C). Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
- Place the shrimp skewers on the grill and cook for 2–3 minutes per side or until the shrimp are pink, opaque, and slightly charred. Avoid overcooking.
- Serve:
- Remove the skewers from the grill and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately with lemon wedges for an extra burst of freshness.
Notes
- For wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling to prevent burning.
- Pair these skewers with grilled vegetables, rice, or a light salad for a complete meal.
- To make it extra garlicky, brush additional garlic butter onto the shrimp while grilling
