Description

Juicy, perfectly grilled shrimp skewers coated in a rich garlic butter sauce are a quick and delicious dish perfect for a summer barbecue, dinner party, or an easy weeknight meal. These skewers pack a punch of flavor while being ready in just minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off)
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Shrimp:
    • In a bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, smoked paprika, oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well mixed.
    • Add the shrimp to the bowl and toss to coat. Let marinate for 10–15 minutes while you prepare the grill.
  • Assemble the Skewers:
    • Thread the marinated shrimp onto skewers, ensuring the shrimp are secure and not overcrowded for even cooking.
  • Grill the Skewers:
    • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F/200°C). Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
    • Place the shrimp skewers on the grill and cook for 2–3 minutes per side or until the shrimp are pink, opaque, and slightly charred. Avoid overcooking.
  • Serve:
    • Remove the skewers from the grill and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately with lemon wedges for an extra burst of freshness.

Notes

  • For wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling to prevent burning.
  • Pair these skewers with grilled vegetables, rice, or a light salad for a complete meal.
  • To make it extra garlicky, brush additional garlic butter onto the shrimp while grilling
