  • 1 lb ground halal beef
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 28 oz canned whole tomatoes
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add diced onions and sauté until translucent.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  3. Add canned tomatoes and crush gently; stir until combined.
  4. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low for 20 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, combine ground halal beef, minced garlic, salt, pepper, egg (optional), and breadcrumbs. Mix gently.
  6. Roll mixture into meatballs (about 1 inch wide). Sear meatballs in another skillet with olive oil until golden brown.
  7. Transfer meatballs into the simmering sauce; cover and cook for another 15-20 minutes.
  8. Boil salted water in another pot; add spaghetti and cook according to package directions until al dente.
  9. Serve spaghetti topped with marinara sauce and meatballs; garnish with freshly grated Parmesan.
