Description

These Easy Sweet Chili Chicken Bites are a perfect combination of crispy, tender chicken and a flavorful sweet chili sauce. Coated in a sticky, tangy, and mildly spicy sauce, these bites make for an irresistible appetizer or a quick dinner option. They’re quick to make and bursting with flavor, making them a crowd-pleaser at parties or a great weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (for tang)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • In a bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • Toss the chicken pieces in the flour mixture until fully coated.
  2. Cook the Chicken:
    • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.
    • Add the chicken pieces and cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce:
    • In the same pan, add the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, honey (if using), and rice vinegar. Stir well and bring the sauce to a simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  4. Coat the Chicken:
    • Add the cooked chicken back into the pan and toss it in the sweet chili sauce until evenly coated.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove from heat and garnish with chopped cilantro and sesame seeds. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce or alongside rice.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness and spice of the sauce by adding more honey for sweetness or more chili sauce for heat.
  • You can bake the chicken bites instead of frying for a lighter option. Just coat them in the flour mixture and bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 20 minutes or until crispy.
