Ingredients
Scale
- For the Stir-Fry:
- 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup beef broth or water
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp sesame oil
Instructions
- Marinate the Beef:
In a bowl, toss the beef slices with cornstarch and soy sauce. Let it marinate for 10-15 minutes while preparing the other ingredients. - Make the Sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, beef broth, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Set aside. - Cook the Beef:
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside. - Stir-Fry Broccoli:
In the same skillet, add a splash of oil if needed. Stir-fry broccoli for 2-3 minutes until tender but still crisp. Add garlic and ginger, stirring for 30 seconds until fragrant. - Combine and Sauce:
Return the beef to the skillet. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and broccoli, stirring to coat everything evenly. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens. - Serve:
Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a splash of rice vinegar or chili flakes to the sauce.
- Swap broccoli for other vegetables like snap peas, bell peppers, or carrots for variety.
