Description
This Delicious Pan-Seared Cod with Garlic Butter Sauce is a simple yet luxurious seafood dish that combines the delicate flavor of cod with a rich, savory garlic butter sauce. The cod is perfectly seared to a golden crisp on the outside while remaining tender and flaky inside. Paired with a fragrant garlic butter sauce, this dish is perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion. Serve it with a side of steamed vegetables, rice, or mashed potatoes for a complete and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 4 cod fillets (6 oz each), skin removed
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Pat the cod fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the cod fillets and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through. The fish should flake easily with a fork. Remove the cod from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the garlic is fragrant and golden (be careful not to burn it).
- Add the lemon juice, fresh parsley, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to combine.
- Return the cod fillets to the skillet and spoon the garlic butter sauce over the fish.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional parsley and lemon wedges if desired.
Notes
- If you don’t have cod, this recipe works well with other firm white fish like halibut or haddock.
- For extra flavor, you can add a splash of white wine to the garlic butter sauce.
- You can make this dish in advance by preparing the garlic butter sauce and storing it separately. Reheat before serving.
