Description

Transform simple carrots into a delightful side dish with this Delicious Maple Glazed Carrots with Ginger recipe. The natural sweetness of carrots is elevated with rich maple syrup, fresh ginger, and a hint of butter for a caramelized, glossy finish. This dish is perfect for holidays, romantic dinners, or everyday meals, offering a balance of sweet and savory flavors with a touch of spice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) carrots, peeled and sliced into sticks or rounds
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (or vegan butter for a dairy-free option)
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Fresh parsley or thyme for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Carrots:
    • Wash, peel, and cut the carrots into sticks or rounds of even thickness for uniform cooking.
  2. Cook the Carrots:
    • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the carrots and cook for 4–5 minutes until slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. Make the Glaze:
    • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the grated ginger and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
    • Stir in the maple syrup, ground cinnamon (if using), and salt.
  4. Glaze the Carrots:
    • Add the cooked carrots to the skillet and toss them in the glaze. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the carrots are evenly coated and caramelized.
  5. Serve:
    • Transfer the carrots to a serving dish. Garnish with fresh parsley or thyme for a vibrant and fresh finish.

Notes

  • For extra caramelization, roast the carrots at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes after glazing.
  • Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to brighten the flavors.
  • This recipe pairs wonderfully with roasted chicken, grilled salmon, or a hearty lentil loaf.
