Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Halal beef steak (ribeye or flank steak, thinly sliced)
  • 4 soft hoagie rolls or sandwich rolls
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper (optional), thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz provolone cheese (or American cheese slices)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for toasting the rolls)

For the Marinade (optional but recommended):

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (ensure Halal-friendly brand)
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  • Prepare the Marinade (optional but recommended):
    • In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, garlic powder, and olive oil.
    • Toss the thinly sliced beef in the marinade and let it sit for 15-20 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  • Cook the Vegetables:
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
    • Add the sliced onions (and bell peppers if using) and sauté for 5-7 minutes, until softened and caramelized. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • Cook the Beef:
    • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and heat over medium-high.
    • Add the marinated beef slices, seasoning with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook for 3-4 minutes, until the beef is browned and cooked through.
  • Assemble the Sandwiches:
    • While the beef is cooking, butter the hoagie rolls and toast them in a separate skillet or under a broiler until golden brown.
    • Once the beef is cooked, place the sautéed onions and peppers back into the skillet and mix with the beef.
    • Lay the provolone cheese (or American cheese slices) over the beef mixture, allowing it to melt.
  • Serve:
    • Spoon the cheesy beef and vegetable mixture into the toasted hoagie rolls.
    • Serve hot and enjoy your Halal Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches with a side of fries or salad.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add jalapeños for a bit of heat.
  • If you’re looking to make a low-carb version, try using lettuce wraps instead of hoagie rolls.
  • The sandwich can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, but it’s best eaten fresh for optimal taste.
