For the Tangy BBQ Sauce:
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the BBQ Sauce:
- In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Season the Chicken:
- Rub the chicken breasts or thighs with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Cook the Chicken:
- Heat a grill, grill pan, or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the chicken for 6-8 minutes per side, or until fully cooked (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).
- Add the BBQ Sauce:
- During the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, brush a generous amount of BBQ sauce onto the chicken, flipping and brushing both sides. Allow the sauce to caramelize slightly.
- Serve:
- Remove the chicken from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes. Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
