- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 6 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces dark chocolate (60% cocoa or higher)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, heat the whole milk and granulated sugar over medium heat until warm.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together egg yolks and cornstarch until smooth. Gradually add the warm milk mixture while whisking continuously.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thickened (about 5 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract; pour custard into serving dishes to cool.
- For ganache, heat heavy cream until simmering, then pour over chopped dark chocolate and stir until smooth.
- Once the custard is slightly warm, generously top with chocolate ganache. Chill for at least two hours before serving.
