Enjoy the classic flavors of Chicken Parmesan in this easy and comforting Chicken Parmesan Bake. Juicy chicken is layered with marinara sauce, melted mozzarella, and crispy breadcrumbs for a dish that’s perfect for family dinners or casual entertaining. Serve it with spaghetti, garlic bread, or a fresh salad for a complete Italian-inspired meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: chopped fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the Chicken:
    • Season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper on both sides.
  3. Assemble the Bake:
    • Arrange the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish.
    • Pour marinara sauce evenly over the chicken, ensuring each piece is covered.
    • Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly on top.
  4. Add the Breadcrumb Topping:
    • In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs with olive oil or melted butter until evenly coated.
    • Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the cheese layer.
  5. Bake:
    • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
    • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F or 74°C) and the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
  6. Serve:
    • Let the bake cool for 5 minutes, then garnish with chopped basil or parsley if desired. Serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced chicken breasts or pound the chicken to an even thickness for quicker cooking.
  • Substitute marinara with a homemade tomato sauce for a richer flavor.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
